Okay.
Highschool boyfriend.
Back then we pretend.
Time flies just say when.
Feel sixteen again.
Warm beer and bad small talk.
Tired of moving fast.
Smoking cigarettes on the walk.
Ripped jeans and a baseball cap.
One at a time.
Run out of time.
Only nineteen.
What could it mean?
Isn't it sweet to be so?
Tell me to be.
Tell me to be.
Tell me to be so I know.
Only eighteen.
What could it mean?
Isn't it sweet to be so?
Tell me to be.
Just tell me to be.
Tell me to be so I know.
Lights off and 3 missed calls Fantasize bout broken glass Tell me how could i feel lost A golden cross and a silver flask One at a time Run out of time Only nineteen.
What could it mean?
Isn't it sweet to be so?
Tell me to be.
Tell me to be.
Tell me to be so I know.
Only eighteen.
What could it mean?
Isn't it sweet to be so?
Tell me to be.
Just tell me to be.

Isn't it sweet to be so?
Tell me to be.
Just tell me to be.
Tell me to be so I know.
So I know.
We’re The Nancys, and this next song is called “Know Me Too.” It’s off of our self-titled EP.
Small road off a crowded highway.
Keep the kids indoors.
You know I would love you sideways, upside down and on the floor.
I just wanna know you.
I just wanna know you.
Do you wanna know me too?
Am I a mirror, am I somebody else?
I think I'm more you than I am myself.
Stitched into you but I'm ripped at the seam.
I’ll be for you what you can't be for me.
Love is tired, my love is true.
This blood bound oath has proven hard to cut through.
I just wanna know you.
I just wanna know you.
Do you wanna know me too?
Am I a mirror, am I somebody else?
I think I'm more you than I am myself.
Stitched into you but I'm ripped at the seam.
I’ll be for you what you can't be for me.
Never one for making sense It's nothing if not consequences baby Trading love for second hand You’re doomed if you think that's what's gonna save me.
Maybe Am I a mirror, am I somebody else?
I think I'm more you than I am myself.
I’m stitched into you, but I'm ripped at the seam.
I’ll be for you what you can't be for me.
That's “Know Me Too” from the Nancys, on WUFT Amplified.
“Tell Me to Be,” ahead of that.
So, thank you guys for being here.
Very excited to have you on, uh, WUFT Amplified.
Tell us about the origin of the Nancys.
Yeah.
So, basically, I started the band in October 2023.
So it was my junior year.
And we went through a couple rotating members before, um, I met these guys in summer of 2024.
And we kind of just started picking up, playing a bunch of shows.
We recorded our first song in September, and that's kind of what we've been doing ever since.
Set out an EP in May.
Yeah.
-And a new single in August.
-Yeah.
Uh, and we're gonna hear, I guess, the entire EP on the show, which is awesome.
Um, what are some of your musical influences?
Who would you say?
Um, I think we all have pretty different music tastes.
Uh, I grew up on a lot of old stuff, a lot Fleetwood Mac, a lot of the Beatles.
Um, some more new wave stuff is like, Big Thief.
Uh, I really like this new band, Geese.
Um.
More of the indie rock, I guess, is what you would say is our genre.
I know the boys have their own.
Um, I like, uh, Dave Fridmann.
He does, um— he mixes a lot of my favorite albums.
And, uh, Max Martin as well.
I, I like that guy.
He's an industry titan.
I'm a huge fan of, like, 70s funk and soul.
So, like, Marvin Gaye, um, Blackbyrds, Isley Brothers.
Yeah.
Yeah, I like everything, really.
Uh, I grew up playing classical music, so.
Um.
That's not really something I listen to often.
But I've listened to a lot of Pinegrove, um, Mickey, lately.
Some of my buddies, Tavern Breakfast.
Shout out to them.
So, yeah.
So, uh, what can you tell us about this next one?
It's another one from the self-titled EP.
Yeah.
This next one’s a bit of a slower song.
I would say it's, like, a pretty, uh, like, meaningful song, um.
To me personally, it’s more, just about, kind of, college and— Everyone can relate to feeling a little burnt out, a little stressed out, um, in this period.
So, it's actually one of our only slow songs that we have.
Um.
And, yeah, it kind of sits with you a little bit more.
Um.
And yeah, it's one of my favorites.
All right.
Well, let's check it out.
Maybe it'll be one of your favorites too.
“Light, Again” from the Nancys, on WUFT Amplified.
Kitchen table by the door.
Looks different than it did before.
Stains don't come out in the wash.
Can't call off to please the boss.
Just cause it's true don’t mean that it’s right.
Move back with mom.
Call it a night.
I just want to talk, I don't want to fight.
Open the door.
Lets make it right.
Again.
Oh, I'm burning out like an old cigarette.
Light me, again.
Watching movies with no sound.
I like it more this time around.
Writing songs to pass the time.
Living for that killer line.
Working all week, can't see the end.
The strays on the street see me more than my friends.
Pick up religion just to ask for a sign.
Figure it out.
Sound check in five.
Again.
Oh, I'm burning out like an old cigarette Light me, again.
In between, and so woe is me.
I believe you were made for me.
Sink your teeth into underneath.
Missing you.
Missing half of me.
Kill me like a habit.
Spill your drink all on the chase.
Meeting in the bathroom.
Never seen a brighter grey.
Go where you stand.
I’m not your man tonight.
All goes to plan when loving out of spite.
I'm walking.
I’m walking out.
I'm walking.
I'm walking out.
Down below with the world in tow.
Take me home just to let me go.
You don't know, and that's how this goes.
Hold me close for another note.
Kill me like a habit.
Spill your drink all on the chase.
Meeting in the bathroom.
Never seen a brighter grey.
Go where you stand.
I'm not your man tonight.
All goes to plan when loving out of spite.
I'm walking.
I'm walking out.
I'm walking.
I’m walking out.
Go where you stand.
I'm not your man tonight.
All goes to plan when loving out of spite.
I'm walking.
I'm walking out.
I'm walking.
I'm walking out.
I'm walking out.
I’m walking out.
I'm walking out.
Leaving in the middle of night.
Doing what you want even if it isn't right.
Race you to the edge of the pool.
Thinking to myself that this is so high school.
Staring at the wall, what do you see?
I tried to be good, it's not for me.
I'm not the one.
Getting drunk on everything but white wine, cause you know it makes me think of my mom.
Taxi driver taking me home.
Looking out the window, so glad I'm not alone.
Wherever you go, well there you are.
Drink off what I can't unsay at the bar.
I'm not the one.
I’m not the one.
Hold it against me.
I'm not, not, not.
Hold it against me.
I'm not, I'm not the one.
Everybody's looking for fights.
Smoking cigarettes under the gas station light.
East coast baby in my cardigan.
Kinda like it when we're kissing, cause her hands get so cold.
Bathroom bar line and car again.
Bloody hands and knees.
I’m crawling chasing after her shadow.
Oh, I dust her on my fingertips.
Drip it down my throat.
Find myself distracted at the front row of my show.
How could I deny it?
Body can't say no.
Reminds me just how cool she is as if I didn’t know.
I'm the sucker between her teeth.
Know she's gonna make a meal of me.
Front page baby on the magazine.
Breaks a window just to try and cover up a cigarette smoke.
Fist round the thread that unravels me.
Her pulse a kick drum in my head that’s trailing me wherever I go.
Oh, I dust it on my fingertips.
Never much to say.
Honey dripping down my lap, it's bound to leave a stain.
How could I deny it?
My body won't complain.
Reminds me just how good this is as if i have a say.
I’m the sucker between her teeth.
Know she's gonna make a meal of me.
And I know I'm never gonna change.
I know you'll always stay the same.
And I know I'm never gonna change.
I know you'll always stay the same.
I'm the sucker between her teeth.
Know she's gonna make a meal of me.
That’s “Sucker” from the Nancys on WUFT Amplified.
“Not the One” and “Walking Out,” ahead of that.
And that's, uh, a new single.
A relatively new single.
Yeah.
“Walking Out” came out, um, I believe, right at the end of August.
And the one after that is, um, currently unreleased.
How does the writing process work for the band?
Um, usually I will write the song on, like, my acoustic guitar, and— with the chords and the melody— and I will bring it to the boys, um, and they will, kind of, create their parts around that.
Um, but we're trying to write more together, as a band, cause I feel like it can make you feel more creative and stuff.
But, that's how we have done the EP and the two new ones, basically.
Okay.
And, uh, are— so they are the, the Nancys boys?
Yes.
They're the, just the gen— that's the general term.
They're also my roommates.
I live with them, so.
-My, my friends— -Alright, so the burning question is, who is Nancy?
You know, Nancy is a mindset.
-It's, uh, it's a state of mind.
-Yes.
-It's, uh, an all knowing being.
Theo?
-Yes.
Omnipotent Creature.
You know, you're Nancy I'm Nancy.
-We’re, we’re all Nancy.
-We’re all Nancy.
Um, where can people learn more about, uh, the Nancys and, and get some of this music, find out where you guys are gonna be playing?
I would say Instagram is, like, a pretty big— uh, our source of information.
We post everything.
Um.
We're signed to the local record label.
Uh, Swamp Records is part of UF, and they, um— We have a whole team that works on our stuff, and a lot of it can be found on their Instagram or our Instagram.
Uh, all of our music is on Spotify and Apple Music, and YouTube, and probably most of the other ones as well.
Um.
But, yeah.
We're honestly— We've been trying to get out of Gainesville more, but we're always back here playing shows.
We live here, down on Williston, um.
We have a house, and it's just— We just like to play.
We have a studio there.
It's fun.
Time for one more.
This one was recorded as part of the MusicGNV Recording Grant.
Uh.
-Yes.
-Anything you want to tell us about it?
Uh, yeah.
So, we got that grant, like, right as we kind of became with this lineup, minus Dan.
Um— what can you do?
Uh, but we, we ran into that grant kind of right as we were forming as this band lineup.
And so, it proved to be kind of a challenging experience, because we had never recorded really anything.
We had, like, a bad bedroom demo, and, um, and some stuff like that.
So, uh, it was our first time in a real recording studio, with Jordan Burchel, and it took us two days to record the entire song— which is kind of a lot when you don't know what you're doing.
So, it was like 12-hour days, both days.
Um, but it came together and, uh, we're very grateful for it.
I mean, I don't think that song would’ve come out if it wasn't for this grant, so.
-Fun stuff.
-Well, it came out great.
Yeah.
And it really rocketed.
People like that one.
It's our most popular, so.
All right.
Well, here it is.
This is “Sweet,” from the Nancys, on WUFT Amplified.
You're looking at me like you want me twice.
I'm not a big fan of rolling dice.
I'm pulling my teeth out.
I'm so worn out.
I’m so worn out.
I'll feed you sugar.
I'll keep you sweet.
Turn out my pockets.
Be what you need.
I'll feed you sugar.
I'll keep you sweet.
Turn out my pockets.
Rot out my teeth.
I know I'm not funny, but you're just sweet.
Lay down my cards you've got me beat.
You're easy to lose to.
It's something I'm used to.
So easy to lose to.
I'll feed you sugar.
I'll keep you sweet.
Turn out my pockets.
Be what you need.
I'll feed you sugar.
I'll keep you sweet.
Turn out my pockets.
Rot out my teeth.
I'll feed you sugar.
I'll keep you sweet.
Turn out my pockets.
Be what you need.
I'll feed you sugar.
I'll keep you sweet.
Turn out my pockets.
Rot out my teeth.
I'll keep you sweet.
I’ll keep you sweet.
I'll keep you sweet.
I’ll keep you sweet.
That’s “Sweet” from the Nancys.
